China gets two more UTMB World Series races

Next year, 2025, China will welcome two new UTMB World Series races: Ultra-Trail Xiamen and Ultra-Trail Great Wall.

The Ultra-Trail Xiamen will be held on March 1 and 2, 2025. According to the organisers it’s going to be a blend of city, sea and mountains. The course includes the historic De’an Fortress, sweeping panoramas atop Yunding Mountain, plus Xidong Reservoir and its lush green surroundings. Runners will also face the challenging ascent of Beichen Mountain, rewarding them with stunning views. The start will be in Xiamen, on China’s southeast coast.

The Ultra Trail Xiamen will offer three race distances: 100K, 50K and 20K.

Great Wall of China

The Ultra Trail Great Wall offers ultra runners the unique opportunity to race along this iconic landmark. This race will be taking place on May 17 and 18, 2025, and based in the Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. According to the organisers this event offers an exciting blend of history, culture and natural beauty.

“Dajingmen is located at the natural pass between East and West Tai Ping Mountains”, says Race Director, Ma Zhenli. “As the only ‘gate’ on the Ming Great Wall, it is renowned as the ‘First Gate of the Great Wall. Zhangjiakou, known as the “Great Wall Museum”, showcases the essence of the Great Wall built across various dynasties. Here, runners will experience the unique charm of the Great Wall culture and appreciate the historical features of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall. This is a trail running event that sees history and nature intertwine, and we invite runners from around the world to take on the challenge.”

East Tai Ping Mountain

The Ultra Trail Great Wall will offer four race distances: 100K, 50K, 20K and 10K. Alongside a journey through history, the trails pass scenic landscapes, including the Ren’tou Mountain, the Qingbian Pass and East Tai Ping Mountain.
