Courtney Dauwalter starts as she finishes; as the best

Courtney Dauwalter and Raul Butaci have won the Transgrancanaria classic 126 kilometres race (6.804m+). With her victory Dauwalter made clear that this year will be again a Courtney Dauwalter year. Just like 2023, when she became the first runner ever to win the Western States 100, Hardrock 100 and UTMB.

In the men’s field there was a surprise. Except for Raul Butaci (Rumania, BigK) himself, probably nobody would have expected the Romanian to cross the finish line first (13:22:32). However, Batuci took the lead after the refreshment post at Artenara and managed to stay ahead of Miguel Heras (Spain), who finished 10 minutes later as second (13:32:48).

Two in a row

Ionel Cristian Manole (Rumania), finished third (13:49:04), making it one and three for team BigK. Jiasheng Shen (China) and Zach Miller (USA) could not live up to their role as favourites. Shen finished fifth, Miller 7th.

For Dauwalter it was her second victory in a row in Gran Canaria. Claudia Tremps (Spain, On) finished as best of the rest in the women’s race. She clocked 16:27:03. Dauwalter’s finish time was 15:14:54. Emma Stuart (Ireland, Scarpa) grabbed third place; 16:50:40.

Advanced 84k

Andrzej Witek (Poland/Asics) was the fastest in the Advanced 84k race (4.800m+). Davide Cheraz (Italy) finished second; 08:21:26. The third place was for Borja Fernandez; 08:30:30.

Tara Fraga (United States/The North Face) was the fastest woman in 09:38:37. She beat Kathrin Gotz (Swiss/HOKA), second in 10:03:11 and Martina Klancnik Potrc (Slovenia), third in 10:18:09.

Marathon

Jennifer Lichter (U.S.A.) and Robert Pkemoi (Kenya) were by far the strongest in the marathon. Second went to Greta Garcia Morán (Spain) and Juho Ylinen (Finland). Rosa María Lara Feliu (Spain) and Tiago Viera (Portugal) finished third.

Transgrancanaria was the third race of the World Trail Majors series.
