Xueer Shang (China) and Elias Kadi (France) have won the Black River Peak Ultra trail run on Mauritius, part of the UTMB World Series. Xang needed 26 hours, 41 seconds and 58 seconds for the 135 kilometres of running and 5.400 metres of climbing. Kadi ran it in 16:45:43.
Behind Kadi Gregoire Curmer (France), the big favourite for the victory, took second place. The Team Chamonix Mont Blanc place needed almost an hour and a half more: 18:10:04. Tahirinirina Jeannot Avotraniaina (Madagascar) grabbed third place in 18:23:11.

No double for France
Shang prevented another double victory for France, by winning the women’s race. A victory that was never in doubt. At the finish line the Chinese ultra and trail runner had almost a three and a half hour lead over Marion Bachelerie (France), who finished second in 30:04:23. Behind the Raiders2000 athlete Mayumi Kimura (Japan) finished as third in 33:23:50 in this first edition of the Mauritius ultra trail race.
