At age 25 the doctors told me to stop running. My ankles could not handle it. I did. Up until 1,5 years ago. Now, age 50, I'm training for my first ultra run.
I Run
I run, because I love being outdoors: on the trails, in the mountains and forests.
I run, because I love to feel the wind around my head and the mud beneath my feet.
I run, because I love to see deer staring at me and to hear eagles yelling at me.
I run, because for years I couldn't.
I run, because I love figuring out how to become better and sharing that knowledge with you.
I run, because I love to sweat and to feel my legs get tired.
I run, because I am getting old and I want to stay young.
I run, because I love writing and reading about running.
I run, because I have a beautiful girlfriend (wife) and I want to keep looking good for her.
I run, because I don't like bellies and beer.
I run, because I love to discover the world on foot.
I run, because in trail running everybody is equal.
I run, because I love the idea that every runner who finishes a race is a winner.
I run, simply because I love running.
Don't focus on the goal. Why would you? If you reach your goal, you only have to find a new one. So just enjoy the journey.
