Are Fetveit (Norway) and Fiona Pascall (Great Britain) have won Wild 110 at Wildstrubel, part of the UTMB World Series. The hundred miles race was shortened to 72 kilometres (3.700m+) due to the heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures in Switzerland.
For Fetveit it meant his biggest victory in the UTMB World Series. The Norwegian ultra runner finished as 23th in the TDS last year, but never made it to the podium of a UTMB race. In Switzerland he started conservatively, passing the first aid station at Cordonna, almost 11 kilometres into the race, as number 22. On the climb to Leukerbad he passed almost the whole field and reached Leukerbad in second place.
At the next aid station, Cordonna, he was third, but from there on he set his eyes on the victory. At Barrage du Tseuzier he had only Max Daube in front of him. The Australian athlete was no match for the Norwegian’s last fast kilometres. Fetveit finished in 7:53:02. Daube in 8:06:01. Adrien Lebreton (France) completed the podium in 8:15:59.
Pascall class of her own
In the women’s race Fiona Pascall was in a class of her own. The Salomon athlete finished twelfth overall in 8:47:01. That was almost 45 minutes faster than number two, Laura Seskiene (Lithuania); 9:30:15. Mathilde Dufour grabbed third place. Ze finished in 9:49:09.
Pascall won earlier this year the Mozart 100 in Austria. Last year she was the best at the Julian Alps Trail Run and at the Arc of Attrition.

Albon returns
Jon Albon (Great Britain) didn’t start at the UTMB two weeks ago, but was fit enough to run the Wild 50. He took the lead at the start and never looked back. He finished after 37,4 kilometres (1.600m+) in 2 hours 59 minutes and 27 seconds.
Loic Rolland (France) finished second in 3:05:22. Nicolas Martin (France) completed the podium in 3:07:13.
Kaspersen top 6 overall
Yngvild Kaspersen (Norway) won the women’s race in 3:19:18. She finished sixth overall, less than 20 minutes behind Albon. Jessica Brazeau (USA) finished second in 3:27:50. The third place was for Astrid Hochart (France); 3:32:41.
